Greetings, Adventurers.
There are several changes coming to Villagers and Heroes in 2018 that have an impact on key elements of the game. These were covered in a thread on the official V&H forum, which resulted in another thread being posted to clarify and amend certain aspects of the original. I have taken the liberty of merging these threads in order to give a more concise picture of what to expect in the coming year.
While we anticipate new content coming into the game in 2018, these changes are specific to existing mechanics and features and do not address new content and features. Those topics will be discussed in a later thread when that information comes available.
If you would like to read the threads in their original context and participate in the discussion, you can do so in the News and Patch notes section of the official forum, HERE.
Begin with the thread titled "Upcoming Changes" and follow that with the "Movement Changes - Update and Clarification" thread.

Hello everyone,
We have some changes that will be coming in the next few months, and we wanted to give you all a heads up.
Stardust and Asteria
As scheduled, we will be removing the Starfall zone near the beginning of January. However, due to player request, we have decided to keep Asteria around for one extra month. Asteria will be moving to Ardent Castle and will be there until early February. Once the first build in February goes live, Asteria, Stardust, and Starfall white armaments will all vanish, never to be seen again. So you all have about two months from today to spend all of your Stardust, so get spending! (note: only the Starfall white armaments for runes will vanish. Normal armaments from Asteria will remain. The ones that vanish have a bright red warning on them saying that they will disappear).
* EDIT To Add:
There have been two more announcements made that directly relate to the Stardust Issue. Please take note.
First: New Key Code for Stardust
The key code for returning, naked players to gain free Stardust has expired. But since Asteria will still be here for a little longer, we've created a new code for the next month.
The new code is: freestardust
(And as before, this key code is good for all players, not just naked ones.)
Second: Starfall Window vanishing soon, but Stardust is not!
As we approach the new year, the menu window for Starfall, which allows players to claim dust, gold, and items, will be vanishing. This menu has a scheduled timer that will cause it to vanish forever on January 2nd. This means players need to claim all of their items from the window, or risk them being be lost forever.
However, as we have stated before in a prior post, we are extending that date to use Stardust. Starting with the next live build, the Starfall zone will be gone but Asteria will be moved to Ardent Castle. She will remain there until early February.
Because the Starfall menu does have a timer and has been live for over 3 months, we will not under any circumstances refund or replace items lost due to players not claiming items in time.
In Summary:
Starfall window is leaving in just a few days.
Players must claim items before the window leaves, or those items will be lost.
We will not for any reason replace items lost because of unclaimed items.
Stardust will remain in the system, and will be usable until sometime in February.

Vim Vendors
We will be removing the Vim Vendors from Ardent City in January. Additionally, all unspent Crystallized Vim Shards will vanish from player inventories. The Vim Vendors have been active for just about two and half years, so it is time to say goodbye. Spend your shards now, or they will be lost! (Note: any player that started playing after June of 2015 will not be affected by this).
Lucky Cards
Lucky Cards, Daily Login Bonus, and the New Player 7-day Calendar are all being removed and replaced with a brand new 30-day Calendar system. This change will happen either in January or February of next year. The new calendar will give out more awards than ever, including interesting and unique rewards. Think of it like a Christmas Advent calendar all year around. Because of this, any unspent Lucky Card decks will be lost, so we encourage all of our players to use any you have left.
Legacy Speed
We will be implementing some big changes to player movement speed early next year. These changes will once and for all solve player issues with the current system, and 100% remove all disparity between new and old players (gone will be the days of having to explain to new players why they move slower).
We will be adding an auto-mount feature, where shortly after combat ends, players will automatically mount their currently selected mount. There will be an option in settings to turn this feature off for those that don’t wish to use it.
We will be adding a new mount called “Golden Speed”. Golden Speed will be a mount in almost every respect: it will appear in your mount list, you can press R to activate it, you can press R to deactivate it, there will be a poof of smoke, etc. However, unlike other mounts… there is no mount! It will just be the player running quickly!
The Golden Speed mount will be sold in the item shop for 300 crowns. Like other shop mounts, this item will unlock premium mount speed on your character. We will not be selling the default speed version of this item, however, we have internally valued it at 100 crowns. This is important for below when looking at what type of value you can expect to receive.
We will be removing the old player vs new player movement speed difference. All players will have the default movement speed of 100% (which only really effects in-combat movement speed).
We will be removing ALL legacy movement enchantments, including all variations of Winged Helm Speed and Fleet Feet. As we do this, we will be running a conversion process where every player is compensated with one of the following:
Additionally, players that have a rank 9 Winged Helm Speed that gives +10% combat speed will be given a new enchantment that grants +10% combat speed.
Just to be totally clear: When considering which player gets what compensation, we account for old player default movement speed of 125%. This means that no player’s out-of-combat movement will be lowered! All out-of-combat speeds will either be identical to before or possibly even increased!
When all is said and done, there will be ZERO, (count ‘em… ZERO!) differences between old and new players. All players will move at the same speeds, and all players will have access to the same items via the item shop or in-game events.
We are going to account for existing Golden Bridles, and if one is present give a crown gift instead. This only applies to those players being converted who have old legacy enchantments. We evaluated the sale price of Bridles over the past year, and a player could have obtained one from as low as 300 crowns to as high as 500 crowns. We, therefore, are going to split the difference and give a gift of 400 crowns to those that are entitled. This will be on a per character basis, so if you have multiple characters that fit into this category you will receive the gift on each of your characters.
Additionally, making the changes in an above-described manner means that all players will move either exactly the same speed or even faster than prior to these changes. This mixed with the auto-mounting feature means that most players will feel little to no change. You might see a poof of smoke as you enter fast running mode, but you will be moving at the same speed (if not faster) than before!
With these changes, the movement speed issue can finally be laid to rest, hopefully never to rear its ugly head again!
Below, we have prepared a table where you can figure out exactly what will happen to you during the conversion, and what type of value you will receive. Internally, this table is actually very large. There are a total of 140 possible variations, depending on rank of Fleet Feet and Golden-Winged Helm enchantments, legacy player or not, and whether or not Golden Bridle is present. We figured that a huge table like that would be very confusing, so we have slimmed it down to a nice trim list.
However, before you look at the list below...
Know that what is mentioned here is base running speed. Having extra boosts from consumables, player abilities, and house effects do not impact this table and therefore conversion compensation. Before you examine what tier you think you belong in, make sure to not count these extra bonuses (particularly house effects!).
The 'total running speed' numbers mentioned below are for non-mounted speeds. Having a high mounted speed has no influence on what a player will receive.
The only way to get a running speed higher than 100% would be to either be a legacy player, or have some sort of combination of the legacy Fleet Feet enchantment, or the legacy Winged Helm Speed enchantment. This means that if you are a new player, none of this applies to you!
All speeds talked about are assumed out-of-combat speeds.
Legacy Speed: What Will Happen To Me?
* If your total running speed is 100%:
Nothing will happen to you during the conversion.
* If your total running speed is above 100% but below 150% (regardless of whether or not you have legacy speed enchantments):
You will be given a Golden Speed Mount for free. After the change, your mounted speed will be 150%. Total value gained: 100 crowns.
* If your total running speed is between 150% and 212.5%:
You will be given a Golden Speed Mount for free, and premium mount speed will be unlocked on your character. After the, change your mounted speed will be 215%. Total value gained: 300 crowns.
* If your total running speed is exactly 225% and you DO NOT have a Golden Bridle:
You will be given a Golden Speed Mount for free, premium mount speed will be unlocked on your character, and you will be given a Golden Bridle. After the change, your mounted speed will be 240%. Total value gained: 700 crowns.
* If your total running speed is exactly 225% and you DO have a Golden Bridle:
You will be given a Golden Speed Mount for free, premium mount speed will be unlocked on your character, and you will be given a crown pack worth 400 crowns. After the change, your mounted speed will be 240%. Total value gained: 700 crowns.
* If you have the enchantment Winged Helm Speed that gives exactly 62.5% run speed (which stopped being sold in 2015):
You will be given the Golden-Winged Ring, which contains an enchantment that boosts attack speed by 10%.
**Note: If the conversion gives a player a premium speed or a golden bridle, this will also have the awesome additional side effect of unlocking these speeds on all other mounts on your character!
Legacy Speed: In Conclusion
We have attempted to make things the most fair for the most players, and to give as much as we can give without breaking the bank. After these changes, all players will have access to the same things and all players will be capable of moving at the same speeds. We hope you all see that we are simply trying to do what is best for the game, and best for all of you. Based on your feedback, we have made some compromises. We hope that those that are still dissatisfied can do the same, we can meet each other in the middle, and be done with this entire situation once and for all!
