Hello, Everyone! We have a large and exciting build for you all! In addition to a great many bug fixes, we have also done a complete overhaul to the monster parts system in the game, added new story content to the lower levels, and, last but not least, have added the Midsummer's special event zone, The Twilight Vale. Enjoy!
The Midsummer Event Returns! Featuring:
[*]The return of the Twlight Vale, and special event zone where all players are equalized to the same level.
[*]9 brand new event quests, plus quests from last year, and 2 dailies, a total of 13! (lots to do!)
[*]The bounty ladder returns against the council of the five fae!
[*]16 outfits IN the event, with 6 of the outfits being brand new!
[*]A new rare boss that spawns in the vale
[*]Various treats and goodies to help you in your adventures!
[*]Ardent City put up its midsummer lights, and set up their firework system
[*]Special Note: Some of the new quests and tasks in the event may be very difficult for certain players. This was intentional as these quests give players the chance at earning amazing new outfits. Players can choose what outfit they wish to pursue, or maybe have a friend help them and get a few. What you do is up to you!
New Story Content Added For Levels 10 - 15
[*][*]This is the first of a three part story line segment, so think of it as 'Part One.' It picks up right where the Malicious Miscreant quest left off - in Ardent Castle, speaking to Lady Philippa. (In order to start the quest a player needs to have either finished the 'Malicious Miscreant' quest line, or be a minimum level of 10)
[*][*]Several zones have had visual make-overs
[*][*][*]Addicts Ascent has been completely re-done
[*][*][*]Bearhold Valley has been much enhanced (pssst! check out the bear, too!)
[*][*][*]Bearhold Crypt is greatly improved
[*][*][*]Memorial Pond, Lady's Lake, Kingsport, and Elk Meadow have all had alterations made
[*][*][*]Ardent Castle has a new chamber
Monster Parts System Improvements: There has been a large overhaul on the Monster Part system.
- [*]All existing fangs, milk, scales, silk, horns, claws, bristles, quills, and tusks have been removed from the game. These items have been replaced with 9 single items. This means there are 169 fewer items that players have to collect and manage.
[*]The new monster parts have a new simple naming scheme, with a few parts being renamed:
[*][*]Fang, Bone (changed from Tusks), Scales, Claw, Ichor (changed from Milk), Horn, Silk, Barb (changed from quill), and Fur (changed from bristles).
[*]The new versions of monster parts are leveless, meaning they drop at any level, and they are used in all of the places that the existing monster parts were used e.g. if a recipe required 10 ‘Tiny Fangs’ it now requires 10 ‘Fangs’.
[*]Pelts and the various level versions of pelts remain unchanged.
[*]Monster parts now drop from specific enemy types. This is listed in the items description and in the item browser (from the Knowledge Book or from the Crafting Window). Additionally, enemies have a new line in their description if you mouse over their cameo that tells what types of things they may drop.
Pelts and Leather: There has also been requests from players concerning the rarity of pelts and the need of them for hunter gear.
[*]To help address this, all enemies have been divided into two categories, “Humanoids”, and “Beasts.” Beasts will function like before, dropping pelts. However anything that is a humanoid will instead drop already processed leather (of their level range). This should give hunters an easier time collecting the items they need for crafting. Mousing over an enemy will tell you whether it will drop pelts or leather.
[*]Before these changes, the typical chance to get a pelt from any monster was 24.6%. We have boosted this to a 35% chance. However, any humanoid creature that drops leather will drop at a 30% rate.
Other Monster Part Related Changes
[*]The monster parts vendor now only sells pelts up to level 15 and is now labeled as a "Pelt" vendor.
[*]The monster parts charter has been removed from the game
[*]Recipes level 15 and below no longer require any monster part
[*]Monster parts are now listed as a green superior rarity
[*]Monster part icons and 3d loot have been improved
[*]Almost all old monster parts will be converted to the new system after this patch goes live. Low level parts that used to be sold from the Monster Part vendor will NOT be converted (these items will become useless junk items to be thrown away).
[*]Because of the new slimmed down versions, all monster parts have been removed from village projects (except pelts).
Fish:We did some minor cleanup on fish caught from the fishing skill.
[*]The following items have been removed:
- [*][*]Banded Butterfish, Crawdad, Bass, Redhorse, Boxfish
[*][*]Any player who had these items will have them converted to other fish of similar level. Any recipe that used these items has been updated and renamed.
[*]The naming scheme for fish has been changed. Instead of a “shiny” and “glistening” alternative, there instead is a small, normal, and large variant. All fish have had their icons and names updated to reflect this simpler system.
[*]All decoctions have had their icons updated.
Icons
[*]Several in game icons have been improved
Zogs
Because of some of the changes with monster parts we had to update the zog system. We decided to add some extra benefit to zogs for players.
[*]Zogs now have a rarity system. There are common, uncommon, rare, and ultra rare zogs. Zogs from various races have been arbitrarily broken up into these rarity classes. For example, a Spider zog is a common, and a Ghost zog is an ultra rare. Rarity changes the drop chance of a zog.
[*]Zogs can still be redeemed as they always could at the zog redemption agent in Traders path. However after a zog has been redeemed, the player unlocks the ability to perform zog contracts.
[*]Zog contracts are simply turning in 5 of the same zog to the redemption agent. Doing this gives a reward based on rarity:
[*][*]Common: An emerald
[*][*]Uncommon: A Diamond
[*][*]Rare: A random elixir
[*][*]Ultra Rare: 25 crowns
[*]Zog contracts can be performed any number of times (as long as you have the zogs for it!)
[*]All zog related achievements have been removed
[*]Because of cleaning up and combining certain races, several zogs have been removed from the game. All of these zogs will be converted after the patch to other types of zogs.
[*]Because the new system has and high level of rewards, all current in game zogs have been converted down to ‘common’ zogs. Uncommon, rare, and ultra rare zogs can only be found while adventuring. However if a player has already redeemed a zog they will still have credit for doing so.
[*]Because zogs have new and better uses, they have been removed from all village projects.
XP Table Balancing
We have reduced XP tables for gathering, crafting, gardening and ranching.
[*]Gathering and Crafting have been reduced to make it easier to keep skills in line with combat level. In particular, levels 1-30 are significantly easier, and levels 31-70 are fairly easier. Levels 71-Max had a slight reduction but remain mostly the same.
[*]Gardening and Ranching have both had their XP tables severely reduced. These skills are both already time gated, making them very difficult to keep in line with combat. Both of these activities require player skill (what to plant, collecting food, when to water, etc.) as well as a fair amount of management. We feel that these things are the 'gate' to the skills, and XP tables shouldn't be something that gets in the way of these activities.
[*]Combat tables were unchanged.
Crafting Recipe Changes
[*]The amount of basic refined ingredients needed for all recipes has been lowered. As an example, a level 79 warrior armor went from 175 pigs to 136.
[*]In addition to the change above, the amount of leather needed for hunter gear has been additionally reduced. As an example, a level 79 Hunter tunic went from 157 leather to 97.
[*]Reduced the amount of elemental fleece needed for fire, ice, shadow, and holy gear.
[*][*]Gloves, Boots, and Belts went from alternating 10 / 15, to alternating 5 / 10 (reduced by 5 each)
[*][*]Outfits went from alternating 30 / 60, to alternating 20 / 40 (ten and twenty reduction)
[*]Doubled the chance to get a legendary crafted item if the player has a 5 star rank in the recipe (from 15% to 30%)
Other Game Improvements
[*]Tracked quest arrows! Tracked quests now have arrows that direct you to nearby goals.
[*]Starting on June 17th, characters on new accounts will have a default move speed of 65, instead of 100. This will NOT affect accounts created before June 17th. This will NOT affect new characters created after June 17th on accounts that were created before June 17th. This will ONLY affect entirely new accounts (i.e. email/password or Steam account never used on a given server before) from June 17th onward.
[*]We changed the wallaby boot reward in Summer's Hollow. Wallaby boots were changed to 'Gnomish Wallaby Slippers' and are now given out as the prize for completing the Malicious Miscreant and no longer contain the speed portion. Now, instead after completing Hilda's quest, the player will receive a 1 hour long speed bonus equal to that of Celestia's Helm of Alacrity (the duration of the speed buff will only tick down if the user is logged IN).
[*]We made liberty drams a bit better by giving them a level lead vs. the level needed to use, e.g. before a level 65 potion would protect you against level 65 and lower enemies, but now a level 65 potion protects you again level 69 and lower enemies.
[*]Boosted the drop chance of Bileweed Bubblegum
