Hi! I am so excited; I have been steadily working on downloading the game, 1 Sat at a time, since last Sept./Oct.; when they offered the free trial. It has been Slow going with 10,000 to 16,000 files a week (sometime less). As of last Sat. I have approx. 4,000 files to go So it looks like I will have the rest of it downloaded this Sat. & will be able to join everyone in game 2 Sat. at most. I am thinking of going with The Feline Race (Charr(?)) I like being a healer is that an option for me? I would love your input & feedback.

Hooray! I am so happy you are finally going to get to play!
Yes, the Charr is the feline race, so you'd like that.
This game doesn't have that DPS/Healing/Tank option, as each class has its specifics in each area, but you my like Elementalist for the water attunement, as it deals more with AoE heals and so forth, but very hard to keep alive.
I say try what you think might be fun, then go for it. =) Just always remember to have at least one of each race for achievements!

For old farts like me that played live FRP (Fantasy Role Playing) games, like Dungeons and Dragons (not on line ) GW2 reminds me a little of GURPS. How you develop your character is influenced by race, but aside from that, you have the freedom to develop it as you wish, without being restricted to a specific class. Not being restricted to a singular class means zero class restrictions. GW2 has a better flow to its character development and play than most anything else I have ever tried. Sadly, while I have the basic version of the game, as well as a character already in game, I am having some issues with getting logged on, and getting it to play. I got a little frustrated about it, and put it on the back burner, but I'll take another stab at it sometime over the next week or so and see if I can't get back in. Now that I know how many friends I have playing it, I'm beginning to get a little eager to get back into it.

I don't think you guys will be disappointed with Guild Wars 2. It was hard for me to get into it at first because I was playing Free Realms so much, but after that had closed down officially, I looked back into Guild Wars 2, and have been playing semi-daily since last May. =D

I think I have worked out my problems. The game is telling me my processor is underpowered, which it never did prior to it updating, but we shall see how it plays. One of the problems I had was that the log in refused my IP without email verification (even though my IP had not changed), but it would never send me an email to verify with. That is now resolved. Another issue I was having was that it would not fully install the updates that have been made since I last played, but it turns out that the updates were downloaded onto my game, but would not install until the verification was made. That also is resolved. Talk about going around in circles... At any rate, I am confident I can get on now. The only reason I have not done so yet is because I know that if I do I will start playing and not want to stop, and I just have to much on my plate to do that today. I will be sure to pop in before the weekend is out though, and look forward to seeing old friends there. The one thing I am not sure about is if I should even bother with my existing character, or just start a new one. I only managed to play her up to the point where your personal story takes you into the city, and it has been the better part of a year since I even got that far.

I guess it depends on the level really? It never hurts to start fresh at all. =) By the way, I am on the Northern Shiverpeaks server for anyone who is interested in joining me via WvW. That is where servers will only matter for at this particular point, so I just wanted to give you guys a heads up. You both are also welcome to my guild at your leisure, however some things are different with us if you plan to join. =D That's my extended offer to you both, just check up my guild thread if it interests you. Other than that, make sure you post me your account names so I can add you! =D (Your account name is a name.1234 or whatever the numbers may be; this is visible to all, remember that, so it's not personal info, technically).

Rangers can get a snow leopard to travel with them basically you can have at 5 characters at time and 5 races to pick from so don't worry too much about to be.
Sincerely, Ash

Actually the animals you can start with as a ranger depends on your race. For example, my sylvari ranger has a fern hound, and so on and so forth

If you like the feline like characters, Charr is definitely your way to go, Kaya! Also, if you like being able to be a tanky healer-like class, I would definitely go with Guardian. When set right, they are a tank, hard to kill, deal decent damage and can heal for large amounts. It's what you want to do, though; don't try to let me tell you what you can and can't play, I'm only giving suggestions. I started on Elementalist so the classes like it that aren't as tanky and are more glassy and deal heavy damage are my specialty, so I can't really give any tips on Guardian but there are plenty of people that CAN give you Guardian advice.
