I really don't know what to call them. Tags or Ranks.
My question is will you make a thread, either locked or unlocked, about tags or ranks so we know what they are? that'd help a lot. Or even get members input on what some of the new ranks of tags should be.

I get what you are asking about.
Hopefully a staff member sees this!

DANG! I knew somebody would ask this before I was ready to answer it. I should of known it would be you. I still love ya though. I know what you are asking, and it actually falls into two different but related subjects, so I'm going to give you two responses. On my avatar, there are two tags. One displays the "group" that I am in (Administrator). The other is a "title" (Co-Founder). The group tag is a tool that Administrators use to set viewing and posting permissions for the various boards on the forum. The title tag serves no actual purpose beyond conveying a little information to members. You are currently in the "members group" and the fact that it reads "new member" instead of simply member indicates that there is some form of ranking system here. So, I am assuming that what you are asking is what are the various ranks a member can attain, what is their order, and what must you do to advance to the next rank. Right? As much as I hate to admit it, the short answer to that is, I don't know. Sad, isn't it? The thing is, I have had a heavy hand in redesigning the forum as it takes on its new purpose, but I did not have any hand in its original set up. As a result, I am not sure if member rankings as expressed in the group tag are a Proboards default, or something which was added before I became involved here. I also do not know what the progression is, or if there even is one. Finding that out is a little low on my "to do" list, but since you have asked, I will bump that up a few places. I will do my best to find out how that works, and whether or not it is something that Admin can influence. If you will be patient with me, I am confident I can have a more meaningful response for you before the week is out. The other issue you may or may not have meant to touch on is a trophy or awards system. Many forums have one of these which award members trophies, badges, and sometimes special titles, based upon that members input. They are based on a variety of things such as likes, average word count, thread and post count, inclusion of materials like videos and pictures and so on. I can tell you now that we do not have anything of that nature here. I am going to put a priority on finding out about the ranking system first, as I feel that was the primary thrust of your question. While I am doing that though, I will keep an eye out for an awards package that we might be able to make use of. In all honesty, we are trying to operate as cost free as possible, so if I can track down a free package that can be be easily installed, I will pitch the idea to the other Admin. Otherwise, it will have to stay on the back burner for the foreseeable future. I will go ahead and start looking into this today, and will post back when I have some news to share. Thanks for asking.

Okay, A quick answer... which means it was not that hard to find. Proboards has a default rank system which can be adjusted to some extent by Administrators. I am not going to make a separate thread for this, as the OP requested, because I'm not sure I care that much for the current settings. Consider this subject to change, but this is the current set up. Take note that it is based on post count only, and though not stated, I assume thread creation counts as 1 post. If we come up with something we like enough to consider it permanent, I'll generate a thread for it. 000 - 049 posts: New Member, 1 star. 050 - 099 posts: Junior Member, 2 stars. 100 - 249 posts: Full Member, 3 stars. 250 - 499 posts: Senior Member, 4 stars. 500 - XXX posts: Pro Member, 5 stars.A member of Admin can adjust when the next rank is obtained (number of posts), title name, number and color of stars displayed. Admin can also disable the table so that ranks are not awarded, and post count is displayed on the profile page only. I have mixed feelings on this as member ranks can sometimes encourage spammers, which is the reason it was disabled on the last forum I moderated for. On the other hand, I have been on enough forums to understand the majority of members like this feature, and expect to see it. Speaking for myself, I like having it, and would not consider removing it unless it became widely abused. That said, I do not like this current set up all that much, and welcome any suggestions you care to offer.
On the related topic; I have located a couple of awards packages, and disliked them both. Not just because there is a cost factor involved, but because they require to much management and tracking on the part of staff. Another thing I did not care for is that they would pose some difficulties for many mobile users, and I did not see where there was any option to turn the feature on/off by any individual member. I will keep my eyes open for something we can make use of, but it is not as high on my priority list as the member ranks are.

Awww. But yes, that's what I was asking.
The stars and the title is what I meant. For example, since I am a member, I have one yellow star. For how ever many posts/threads you make, you'd get a star and a new title. 1000 posts could be 2 red stars and a new title called "Rowdy Robgoblin" or something like that. Just like LoM.
I wanted to know the order, the titles, and how many stars you would get. This is all like LoM, but possibly different with the titles and so.
Take your time with this Nymph, as this is a lot that I'm asking and you're doing.
Don't break a wing.

I am not too fond of post ranking beyond indicating new members who might need a little more help from other more experienced users. I am not fond of the post rank titles either. To add to what Layla said, the posting levels/ranks can also be used to sort members and assign posting/modifying privilages and access; like the Signature posting on LoM: you had to have 5 posts to gain access to the Signature posting area of your profile. Another forum I belonged to you could not edit your posts till you had 10 posts. A third you could not post anywhere but the new members board until you had 25 posts.

Are you not too fond with the titles because you think people will only post just for those?

Oh my. It seems miss Alita has a vivid imagination! Many squirrels must run loose within that mind of hers. I actually quite like those, a cute little squirrel theme. Though I don't know what everyone else believes; if we're lucky, everyone will agree. Lol

I meant the defaults: Jr., Full, Sr., Pro; makes it sound like some people are more important than others.
